Hans Bueschkens Trophy - Global Young Chefs Challenge Competitors

The Global Young Chefs Challenge was created in 2002 by Worldchefs to promote and groom young chefs in their culinary careers. The competition is open to chefs aged 25 and younger.

Chef Hans J. Bueschkens, former President of Worldchefs from 1980 to 1988, was a great chef and a man with great passion and commitment. Chef Bueschkens declared his primary goals would be to create programs to interest “youth” by bringing “junior chefs” into Worldchefs activities.

He played a key role in the World Student Chefs Olympics and World Young Chefs Challenge.

Well deserved honours and accolades have followed Bueschkens the greater part of his life, this is why Worldchefs has decided to organize global young chefs challenge in his honor to win the Hans Bueschkens trophy which is now a worldwide well known trophy.

All the hard work, sweat, tears (literally), and long hours in preparation for the semifinals has finally paid off this time around. It was my second time competing for Guam in the Pacific Region. The pressure is on because it will be the first time that Guam will be representing the Pacific Region in the Global Chefs Challenge. I will be competing against the best of the best in the world and that's just very overwhelming for me. "

Inspirational Chef: All the chefs that I worked and trained under inspires me but the one that truly inspires me is my mom and dad (Jesusa & Jose Nadres). They are my best inspirational home cooks you can ask for. They are great at cooking the down to earth Filipino dishes. Lastly my greatest inspiration is my grandpa. He is the known cook in the Nadres Family and he has recently passed down his original hand written Filipino recipes to me in hope to open a business in the near future. Everything I do in this career field is for my family and they give me the drive and passion to keep on striving for more exellecence in my life.

Favorite Dish to Prepare: My favorite dish to prepare is the Filipino traditional staple: Chicken adobo. It's a hearty stew if you must call it. Having both a little sour and sweet flavor. And Best served with hot steamed white rice. This dish hits it home for me personally. My mom would always make it at least once a week for dinner when I was growing up. This is one of those dishes I can never get tired of eating and now cooking when I have the chance. .
